High-Precision Wire EDM Machining

Wire EDM is a non-contact machining process that uses controlled electrical discharges to cut conductive materials with exceptional accuracy. Unlike traditional cutting methods, there is no mechanical force applied to the part, making it ideal for delicate, hardened, or high-value materials.

At RS Precision, our Wire EDM services are capable of:

Hole Popper (Fast Hole EDM) Capabilities

Our Hole Popper system (the CT300) adds critical functionality to our EDM workflow. Fast hole EDM is used to drill extremely small, deep holes with high speed and accuracy, often serving as the starting point for wire EDM operations.

Capabilities include:

  • Hole diameters as small as .008”
  • High aspect ratios up to 100:1
  • Rapid drilling in hard or exotic materials
  • Ideal for start holes, cooling channels, and micro-features

Originally developed to support wire threading, hole popping is now widely used for finished features in high-performance parts.
